Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Crestwood Chapel for Frances Minnie Hopkins Thornton, 92, of Gadsden, who died Aug. 17, 2013. The Rev. David Chandler will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home will direct services.
Mrs. Thornton was a member of North Gadsden Baptist Church for 57 years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Hopkins and Robert Thornton; and brothers, Carl Walker and William Walker.
She is survived by her son, Rick (Kelly) Hopkins of Huntsville; granddaughter, Katie Hopkins of Altoona; grandson, Randall (Kelly) Helton of Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Tommy Hopkins, Jackson Helton and Lainey Helton; sister, Josie Chappell of Gadsden; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Gadsden Baptist Church Building Fund, 339 Ewing Ave., Gadsden, AL 35901.
Pallbearers will be Chris Justice, Randall Helton, Gary Chappell, Wes Chappell, Jeff Chappell and Greg Chappell.
Honorary pallbearers are Byron (Cowboy) Cothran, Gary Justice and Roland Justice.
