Funeral services for Mrs. Faye Florence, 85, of Hokes Bluff, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crestwood Chapel, with visitation one hour before the service. Mrs. Florence died December 5 after a brief illness. Revs. Doug Baker and T.V. Burroughs will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services and burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery.
Faye was born in Trafford, Ala., the daughter of a coal miner/evangelist, so relocating was the norm for her family. After she married Robert Florence, they raised a family in Hokes Bluff, Ala., for 55 years. Faye was "Mama Faye" to all who knew her. Faye served at East Gadsden Church of God and Rainbow City Church of God by singing in the choir, working in the children's ministry and a secretary when needed. Faye was also a longtime employee of Timberlake Kennels. She loved getting involved, whether it was working on a car or any chore that needed doing. She was a wonderful cook, loved fishing and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Claude and Irene Dunnavant; grandson, Christopher Florence; and three brothers.
She is survived by her children, Kerry (Sharon) Florence of Auburn, Ala., Delores (Doy) Owens of Cleveland, Tenn., Raymond (Deb) Florence of Scottsboro, Barry (Karen) Florence of Hokes Bluff, Freida (Ron) Womac of Riceville,Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Randall Helton, Calvin Pruett, Zack Hendon, Bruce Landry and Bruce Moore.
The family would like to thank Alisha Fuhrman and the staff of Paden Ridge Assisted Living for the wonderful care they gave our mother.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service
