It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evie Jean (O'Dell) Bearden who passed away on September 29, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 14, 1927 to Samuel O'Dell and Zonie Lenora (Templeton) O'Dell.

Jean, as she was known, was a devoted mother and grandmother whose family meant everything to her. She loved deeply and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and brought plenty of laughter to those around her. In her younger years, Jean loved to go dancing. She also especially enjoyed shopping and traveling with her sister, creating many cherished memories along the way.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, W. Ray Bearden; daughter, Deborah Archer; grandson, Todd Nelson; sister, Mary Elliott; brothers, Samuel O'Dell Jr., Curtis O'Dell, and Pete O'Dell; son-in-law, Randy Suggs. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Suggs; grandsons Ronnie Guffey and Chris (Brittany) Suggs; granddaughter Randi Nicole (Jacob) Suggs; as well as a host of beloved great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Jean lived a long and beautiful life centered around the people she loved most. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and her family will remember her for her love, sense of humor and the happiness she brought into their lives. She will be deeply missed, but the love, laughter, and memories she gave her family will remain with them always.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jeans' home health nurse, Kayla, for the kindness, compassion and care she provided. The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Enhabit Hospice, with a special thank you to Suzanne.

Pallbearers will be: Chris Suggs, Aiden Harp, Jacob Kilgore, Ronnie Guffey, Clay Gillian and Mike O'Dell.

Visitation for Evie will be Thursday October 1, 2026 from 12 pm ~ 1 pm at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1 pm Thursday October 1, 2026 at Crestwood Funeral Home. Burial will be at Union Hill Methodist Church Cemetery 2905 Tidmore Bend Rd, Gadsden, AL.
