Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Crestwood Memorial Chapel for Mrs. Evelyn L. Cartee, age 88, of Glencoe, who died on Friday, January 21, 2011. Pastor Will Hughes will officiate. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Mrs. Cartee was born January 10, 1923 in Turkeytown and spent most of her life in the Gadsden area. She was a member of Slackland Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Cartee, Jr.; parents, Orva and Lillie Lancaster; sisters, Jewel Lowe and Edith Lancaster; and a brother, Frank Lancaster.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie (Joe) Whatley and Debbie (David) Moon; sons, Mike (Peggy) Cartee and Robert (Theresa) Cartee; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lee Whatley, Will Whatley, Wade Whatley, Neal Whatley, Phillip Moon, David Moon, Jesse Mitchell and Greg Lance.
Special thanks to her caregivers, Joan Cranford, Michelle Clay, Janice Cranford and Alacare Hospice.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
