Ernest William
Bruce
Jan 8, 1951 — Sep 5, 2026
Hokes Bluff, AL
Ernest (Ernie) William Bruce age 75 of Hokes Bluff, AL went home to his Lord and Savior Monday, October 5, 2026. Ernie was born in Joppa, Maryland in January of 1951.
Ernie was known for his determination, perseverance and hard work. He spent many years working as a manual laborer to provide for his family until the time came for him to pursue his true passion of becoming a barber. Through his determination and hard work, Ernie attended Barber school and became a well known Barber for over 20 years. He was the proud owner and operator of Bruce’s Barber Shop in Gadsden, AL where he spent many hours giving not only haircuts but love and compassion to his clients.
He was very passionate about spreading the Gospel and investing in the lives of others.
He poured his heart into over ten years of ministry to others as well as ministering at Celebrate Recovery.
Above all else, Ernie loved and cherished his family more than anything. Ernie was definitely a girl-dad thru and thru...no mountain was too high and no valley was too low - no matter what may arise, his daughters were the light of his life. Most of the time you could find him playing with his granddaughters or sitting outside enjoying the sunset with a cup of coffee with the love of his life, his devoted wife, Donna.
He will always be remembered for his kind and gentle presence and the way he lit up a room and made people laugh with his jokes. His warm hugs and contagious laugh will be missed the most.
Ernie is survived by Survived by his wife, Donna, daughters: Karla (Nathan) Patterson; Jessie (Cristian) Ramirez; step-daughter Nancy Moody; step-son Steven (Candy) Moody; granddaughters: Sophia Ramirez and Scarlett Patterson; grandsons: Johnathon and Ashton Moody
In Leu of flowers the family would like donations to be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital in honor of Ernie.
