Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Crestwood Chapel for Elsie Means Johnson, 86, of Gadsden, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014. Rev. Daniel Pope will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of directing services.
Mrs. Johnson graduated from Samford University. She was one of the first female pharmacists in the Gadsden area, and served as a pharmacist for over 40 years. Elsie was a faithful member at Bellevue United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Johnson; parents, Clyde and Mary Means; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Erwin and Betty Jane Means; and brother, Ed Means.
Elsie is survived by her brother, Bob (Joyce) Means; sisters, Pat (Jerry) Clayton and Judy (Jake) Wagnon; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bellevue United Methodist Church Local Missions' Fund: 209 Mary Lou Circle, Gadsden, AL 35904.
