Obituary

Funeral services will be 4 pm today, February 28, at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. Ellis V. (Buddy) Copeland, 80, of Hokes Bluff, who died Thursday, February 26. Reverend Matt Griffith will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Buddy died peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson's.
He attended Glencoe High School and was in the class of 1952.Shortly before graduation he and his sweetheart of 63 years eloped to Columbus Mississippi to get married. He was employed for a short time with his father doing landscaping, then joined the Marine Corps. Upon returning from serving there, he worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 28 years. After retirement they traveled with other seniors and also loved gardening, hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of White Chapel for 26 years and a charter member of River East Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.V. and Audrey Copeland; brother, Charles Copeland; son-in-law, Barry Hendon; mother and father-in-law, D.D. and Naomi Parker; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Helen Parker; brother and sister-in-law, S.J. and Marilyn Shew; and brother-in-law, George Downer.

He is survived by his loving wife and faithful caregiver, Mary Lou Parker Copeland; daughters, Robin Hendon (Terry) Ford and Lori Palmer; grandchildren, Heather Hendon (Andy) Carlisle, Andrew (Alanna) Hendon, Zachary (Laura) Hendon, Tyler Hendon, Amanda Ann, Caleb, and Joshua Palmer; great-grandchildren, Cole Carlisle, Gideon, Silas, and Ezra Hendon; Lucille Annalee Hendon; sister Jean Griffith; sisters in-law Pauline Copeland and Evelyn Downer; brother and sister in law Larry and Carolyn Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM prior to the service.
