Ella Mae Martin Lee was born in Centre, Al in 1931 to George Argus and Roxie Mae Martin. She was called home by Jesus in her sleep on April 26, 2022 at the age of 90. Graveside services will be on Monday May 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Crestwood Cemetery
After attending Gadsden High School, she married Lamar Lee and lived in Gadsden. Ella followed in her mother's footsteps by working retail first at JC Penney's and then after her children were grown, Rutenberg's. She Loved working fashion retail and went to New York City on buying trips. She served her customers in the true spirit of retail service and would keep records of their sizes and preferences so she could make sure they were always satisfied customers.
She would give you anything of hers, all you had to do was ask. Sometimes she would pick out things and give them to you even if you didn't ask. Ella loved to help people and was an old-fashioned saleswoman. She also raised dogs starting with Dachshunds and later Irish Setters. She spent the last few years of her life cherishing her constant companion, Scooby.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband Lamar Lee, brother Bill Martin, sister Brenda Martin Ware, her third child Martin Edward lee, and her nephew Doug Martin.
She is survived by her remaining children: son Mickey Lee (wife Joan) and daughter Terre Lee, both of Gadsden, and daughter Jeannie Lee McCleer (husband Andy) of San Angelo, TX, grandchildren: Amy Millican (husband Gene) and Lori Lee, both of Gadsden, Rebecca Alderton (husband Blake) of San Angelo, TX, Dan McCleer of Weatherford, OK, Erin McCleer Medina (husband Ivan) of San Angelo, TX, great-grandchildren: Anslee and Luke Alderton, Sarah and Jackson Clayton, and Ace Aguilar, and niece: Diane Martin Stang.
She is also survived by her sister Sara Halstead (husband Frank), nephews George, Eric, and Darin Krasle and their children, and by her brother-in-law Duane Ware and his children Mandy and Jeff Ware.
Ella lived a good life doing what she thought best for everyone whose life she touched.
