Funeral services will be 12 pm Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Eleanor Kilpatrick, age 96, of Gadsden, who died Wednesday. Dr. Jay Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home announcing.

Mrs. Kilpatrick will be remembered as a loving person who always had a kind word to say about everybody. She loved the Lord and her Dwight Baptist church family. She was a Godly woman, encourager and truly an inspiration to all that knew her.

Born in Statesboro Georgia her family moved to Alabama when she was a child. Her first husband lost his life in The Battle of Iwo Jima and she became a widow at age 23. She remained a widow for over 19 years before marrying Woodrow Kilpatrick who was the father of two sons. She worked for Dr. Frank A. Finney as a dental hygienist for 32 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- and great-great -grandmother, friend to all, and will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by husbands A.D. Stewart and Woodrow Kilpatrick; parents Dewitt and Ethel Boyd; brother Buddy Boyd; and sisters Joann Harlick, Melba Nelson and Mary Clayton.

She is survived by daughter Elaine Peek; stepsons Lyveral Kilpatrick and John Kilpatrick; six grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; sister Lunette (Bobby) Jenkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the staff of Alacare Hospice, especially Lindsey, Jenna, Bridget, Mary, Lori, all of her friends, family, church members for prayers, visits and support. This meant the world to her.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Dwight Baptist Church or Mount Zion Baptist Church of Boaz Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 10 am until the time of service.
