Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery for Edward Michael "Mike" Upton, age 60, of Porter, IN, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2009 in Michigan City, IN. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct. He was born on May 7, 1949 in Gadsden, AL to Louis and Billie (Butler) Upton, who survive of Gadsden, AL. He was married on November 7, 1992 in Chicago, IL to Joan Roach, who survives of Porter, IN. Ed is also survived by his son, Glen Wells of Portage, IN; daughter, Wendy Wells of Portage, IN; and 3 grandchildren, Christian, Justin and Nicholas Wells, all of Portage; aunts, Pat (Robert) Gulledge, of Gadsden, AL and Dorothy Bishop, of Gadsden, AL; and many nieces and nephews. Ed was an area resident for 14 years, coming from Chicago, IL. He was a member of Real Life Community Church and retired from Illinois Bell in the Information Technology Department. Ed was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and was a member of the Supporters of Military and the American Legion Post 170.
