IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward "Pete"
Eugene Rodgers
October 3, 1950 – October 26, 2023
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Edward Eugene "Pete" Rodgers, a beloved father, cherished grandfather, and devoted brother. Pete left this world on October 26, 2023 leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and strength that will forever warm our hearts.
Pete was not just a father but a best friend, mentor, and guide to his family. He was an unwavering source of support and love, always there to offer a kind word, a helping hand, or his quick wit that never failed to make you smile. His love knew no bounds and was extended not only to his family but also to his loyal companion "Happy", his cherished dog, and to a vast number of special friends.
In addition to his love for family, Pete had a passion for nature. He found solace in the beauty of gardening and the simplicity of raising chickens. The nurturing and care he put into his garden and animals were a testament to his patient and gentle nature.
One of his most cherished pastimes was tending to the old wooden stove. The crackling fire served as a symbol of the wisdom and warmth he brought to the lives of those around him.
Pete also dedicated a portion of his life to the United States Marine Corps. His service was not just a duty but a testament to his character. He was a strong leader and his time in the USMC forged him into the most honest and hardworking man that so many came to admire.
Moreover, Pete was a dedicated member of the Attalla Lodge # 383. He served as past worshipful master from 1998-1999. The lodge was not just an organization but a part of his life. The lifelong friendships he made there reveal his ability to connect and bond with those who shared his values and ideas.
Pete dedicated a number of years of service and retired from the Anniston Army Depot, tirelessly working to support the needs of our armed forces.
His legacy is one of unwavering love, devotion and resilience. Pete never stopped fighting his battle. Memories of his love and wisdom will forever serve as a guiding light. He may no longer be with us, but his spirit lives on in our hearts, in the gardens he nurtured, in the warmth of the fires he kindled, and in the legacy of love he leaves behind.
Semper Fi, dear Pete. We salute you for your service and your enduring impact on our lives. You will be deeply missed, but your memory will always be a source of comfort and inspiration.
Pete is preceded in death by his father Malcom Rodgers, mother Maisie Carlene Gray, and son Steven Eugene Rodgers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Jennifer (John ) Marsh; brother James Rodgers; sister Evelyn Elliott; grandchildren Cody (Morgan) Marsh, Kyle (Hayden) Marsh, Kevin (Tessa) Marsh, Cade Rodgers, and Kane (Ashley) Rodgers; great grandchildren Presley Marsh, Teagan Marsh, Logan Marsh, Teddy, Marsh, and Elliana Rodgers; nieces Sheila Smith, Sandra Battles, and Martha Bass; and many other extended family members and dear friends.
The family will receive friends at Crestwood Funeral Home on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 1pm until 3pm for a memorial visitation to celebrate Pete and share stories of what he meant to others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Pete's memory to your choice of cancer charity.
