Eddie C Thompson was born January 30, 1945, in Gadsden, Alabama, and went home on October 30, 2026.
Eddie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was defined by kindness, laughter, and a genuine love for others. She truly cared about the people around her, and that kindness is what those who knew and loved her will remember most.
Eddie loved her family and treasured the time they spent together. She enjoyed cooking, and her chicken and dumplings were a family favorite that will always bring back special memories. She also had a playful side and loved to joke around. She could be a clown, always ready to share a laugh and bring a little humor into the day.
Family was at the heart of Eddie's life. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through her children, grandchildren, and the generations that follow.
Eddie was preceded in death by her father, Robert Martin; her mother, Louise Martin White; her son, Michael Clint Copeland; her sisters, Doris Spicer, Martha Hopkins, and Teresa Money; and her brothers, Ronnie Martin and Ricky Martin.
She is survived by her son, Chris (Robin) Copeland; her daughter, Traci (Chris) Reed; and her beloved grandchildren, Casi (Dexter) Duncan, Clint Copeland, Emily (Jake) Copeland, Lydia Reed, and Audrey Reed. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Dixon Duncan and Andi Duncan; her sisters, Elaine Kiser and Pamela Perry; her brothers, Gene Martin and Jack Martin; and her sister-in-law, Sarah (James) Wallace.
A special thank you to Sydney Mason for being such an amazing friend to our mom and for bringing joy, laughter, and happiness into her final year. Your friendship meant so much to her and to our family. We will always be grateful. We would also like to thank the friends and staff at Baptist Retirement Village as well as Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for their friendship, care, and kindness. Thank you to Dr. Vicente Torregosa, Kelly and staff for all their help and support.
Visitation for Eddie will be Wednesday November 4 starting at 1 pm with a celebration of life at 2 pm.
Services were entrusted to Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home Cemetery Mausoleum 2209 East Broad St Gadsden, AL.
