Funeral service will be at 1:00pm Wednesday at Crestwood Chapel for Earl Diggs, age 75, Gadsden, who died Monday March 29, 2010. Pastor Tim Diggs will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Mr. Diggs was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He was an avid Alabama fan and loved to take jabs at his Auburn friends. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a Shriner. He is preceded in death by his daughter Susan Diggs, parents George and Nellie Diggs, brothers Billy Lee Diggs and George Diggs; and his twin brother Gerald Diggs.
He is survived by his wife Gina Diggs; children Teresa (Eddie) Price, Cindy (Buddy) Smith, Brandon (Deann) Diggs, and Bridgett Diggs; grandchildren Robbie (Mandy) Silvey, Casey (Kristy) Silvey, Yancey (Brook) Smith, Jessica (Shaun) Johnson, April Lay, Reese Lay and Kaleigh Diggs; 10 Great grandchildren; Brother Preston (Christine) Diggs, sisters in law Virginia and Mildred; and stepsister Gail (John) Pipes.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his coffee buddies and story tellers of 278 Restaurant.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 AM until the hour of service.
