Funeral service will be at 11AM today, March 10, at Crestwood Chapel for Dorothy Nelson Black, age 88, of Gadsden, who died March 8, 2011. Joe Nelson will officiate. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct arrangements.
Mrs. Black was a resident of Gadsden for 60 years. She was a pediatric nurse and had worked with Dr. Fred Agricola and Dr. John T. Shepherd for many years. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Black is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, V.A. Black; son Gary N. Black; granddaughter Tammy Ann Black; mother Florence Nelson; father H.L. Nelson; and brother Harlin Nelson, Jr.
She is survived by her son Jerry (Glenda) Black; daughter in law Joan Black; grandchildren Mark(Donna) Black, Brad (Gail) Black, Teresa (Micky) Mueller, and Angela Black; sister Ann (Hugh) Corley; brother Joe (Betty) Nelson; great grandchildren Misty (Lynn) O'Dell; Brandon (Alyson Davis) Black, Tim (Jennifer Whitlock) Black, Ashley (Brandon) Bearden, and Katie Holcomb; great great grandchildren Garrett, Brayden, Abigail, and Landon; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
