Doris, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on October 15, 2016 at the age of 96. Her funeral will be Thursday; October 20, 2016 at Crestwood Funeral Home with Rev. George Cobb officiating. Visitation will be noon until time of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles William Thompson and Lula Bell Ward Thompson; husband of 65 years, Joseph Wilson Tucker; siblings, Tom Thompson, Katherine Langford, Louise Butler, and Anne Wiggins.
She is survived by her son, Gary Tucker (Karen) of Centre, Al; daughter, Connie Owen (Patrick) of Trussville, Al.; three grandchildren, Todd Tucker (Cindy), Jodi Hargrove (Alan) and Natalie Chism (Zachary) ; six great-grandchildren, Beau Tucker, Cortney Tucker, Molly Tucker, Tori Tucker, Thomas Hargrove, and Prather Anne Hargrove.
Doris was born in Andalusia, Al and moved to Gadsden in 1945. She continued to live there until she moved to Trussville, Al in 2014. Doris was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed quilting, crochet, needlepoint, embroidery, and any kind of craft. She was also a faithful member of the East Gadsden United Methodist Church for over 65 years.
Doris was a strong woman with a gentle, sweet spirit who walked in faith. Her contagious positivity and perseverance through her failing eyesight gave inspiration to her family and friends. She had a gift of making everyone she encountered feel special. Doris blessed her family with unconditional love and acceptance. Like the wise woman of Proverbs 31 her children stand and bless her.
