September 25, 1924 – May 11, 2022
Doris Stewart Carlisle, 97 years young, of Gadsden, Alabama,
passed away on May 11, 2022 in her home after a brief illness.
She was born September 25, 1924 in Gadsden to her parents
Ray Whitney Stewart and Nettie Elizabeth (Howell) Stewart.
On February 3, 1943, Mrs. Carlisle married Ralph Westley
Carlisle in Gadsden, Alabama. Together they had three
children, Thomas, Carol and Diane. She was a faithful believer
in Christ, devoted mother and she supported her husband in his
various business ventures.
Her interests included volunteering at the church library,
needlepoint, sewing, playing bridge, bird watching and
supporting her favorite team, the Atlanta Braves. She was
always happiest visiting with family and friends. She was a
member of First Baptist Church of Gadsden and Meadowbrook
Baptist Church.
Doris is survived by her son Thomas Carlisle; daughter Diane (Rod) Beech; son-in-law
Garvin Evatt; grandchildren Michael Beech; Steven, William, and Susann Evatt; Sara and
Ben Carlisle; and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph; brother Ralph Stewart; daughter
Carol Carlisle Evatt; grandson David Carlisle; and great-grandson Samual Yeargain.
The internment service will be held graveside at Crestwood, Gadsden, Alabama on Aug
6, 2022, 10:00 am.
