Mrs. Doris Irene Owens, 77, Gadsden, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017. Her memorial service will be from 2 until 3 p.m. Saturday at Crestwood Funeral Home.
Mrs. Owens, daughter of Girt and Irene Davenport, was born, raised and educated in Gadsden. She was affectionately known as Sister, because she was the only female among seven brothers. Her smile would light up any room, and she loved her nieces and nephews. She is now rejoicing in heaven.
Survivors include brothers, Harvey Davenport, Girt Davenport and George Davenport; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Owens; parents, Girt Davenport Sr. and Irene Slaughter Davenport; brothers, Nathaniel Davenport, Bobbie Davenport and Jimmie Davenport.
