Donald Vice, known to many as Pawpaw, passed away peacefully at Riverview Medical Center with his family by his side on November 1,2024 at the age of 87.
A graveside service will be held for Don at Crestwood Cemetery on Friday, November 8 at 1:30 pm
He is preceded in death by his parents Cecil E. Vice Sr and Glerah B. Vice, his daughter Kimberly Ann Vice, and his brother Cecil E. Vice Jr.
He is survived by his daughter Pam Hutchison (Gary), granddaughter Anna Hutchison Bothwell (Zach), great grandchildren Benjamin, Mikel, Hendrix, and Gianna, brother Jim (Pat) Vice, their sons, and several nieces and nephews.
Pawpaw is also survived by his chosen family in Georgia, Kay Abernathy, Kenny Abernathy, Zach (Cydney) Abernathy and their children Grayson, Colton, and Leighton; Alex Abernathy (Chad) Smith and their children Bentley, Kyree, Adelyn, Hayden, and Baby Smith.
Donald was born in Gadsden where he graduated from Gadsden High School in 1955. He had resided in Gainesville, Georgia for almost 40 years where he retired from AT&T and Securitas Security Company where he worked until the age of 81.
He loved his family, watching old westerns, Alabama football, (Georgia football only for Bentley), and was always his great-grandkids' biggest fan.
