Donald Ray Holmes Sr., 75, Guntersville, formerly of Midway, Pa., died Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at the home of his son, Donald Jr.
Mr. Holmes was a very personable man who truly enjoyed people. He was an outdoorsman who loved camping, hunting, fishing and campfires. He was an avid Auburn fan, "War Eagle." Family was his true passion. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all. His grandchildren were the world to him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret W. Martin Holmes; parents, George and Ann Holmes; sister, Mary Ann Boling; brothers, George J. Jr. and James Holmes Sr.; nephew, Bobby Boling; and niece, Darla (Dee Dee) Holmes.
He is survived by children, Janet Mayben, Dona (Sam) Gaudio and son, Donald Holmes Jr.; grandchildren, Gregory, Justin, Brian and Rachal; four great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene (Dave) Cox, Bigslersville, Pa.; and nephews, Jerry and Edward Boling.
