Donald R. Cole (Don) of Glencoe went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on March 3, 2014. Donald passed away at home surrounded by his family, after an extended illness.
His funeral service will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday at 2pm. Bishop Sam Parker will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from Noon until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Donald was born on December 12, 1934. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 40 years and 8 months. He was totally appreciative for his job and loved his work. Donald was a member of Rainbow City Church of God and also attended East Gadsden Church of God.

He was an avid knife collector. He traveled all over the US to shows to sell and collect knives.
Don was also an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and Auburn Tigers play ball.
He was the most precious, humble, and caring husband, father, and "Pop". He was deeply loved by his entire family and all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clint and Mary D. Cole; brother Clint Cole, Jr.; sister Maxine Pickard; and special father in law and mother in law Bishop and Mrs. W.G. Higgins.

He is survived by the love of his life , Sue, to whom he has been married to for 60 years; son David Cole; daughter Pam Moore (Richard); and one grandson Jo Gibson Moore, Jr- the delight of his life who he loved dearly and deeply and enjoyed watching his play basketball. He is also survived by his sister Linda (Calvin) Barnett whom he loved so much.

The family would like to express their special thanks to Alacare Hospice caregivers and Dr. Thomas Corley and his staff.

Special thanks also to a very special friend for a very long time, Jim Frost of Frost Cutlery, Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Don will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
