Funeral services for DeAlvia Ruth Rich (Dee), of Hokes Bluff, will be at 1:00 pm on Monday February 19, 2018 Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services. Pastor Raymond Williams, Pastor David Cox and Pastor Kyle Cantrell officiating. Dee, passed from her earthly home to eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the age of 88.

Dee was a life long member of the Church of God. She served as a Sunday School teacher and secretary, was president of the ladies auxilary, as well as, the church pianist for over 30 years, and sang in the church trio and choir. She loved her Lord and Savior and set a Godly example to her family and friends by living the life of a Proverbs 31 women, covering us with her love and prayers.

Dee graduated form Hokes Bluff High School in 1947. She attended Lee College in Cleveland, TN. She was active in her community. Dee was a charter member of Hokes Bluff seniors and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Flora Young Hammett; grandparents, Ernest L. and Amanda Lankford; and mother and father in law Epsie Lee and Jesse Alexander Rich.

Dee, is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Newt William Rich (Bill); sons, Wiliam Rodney (Barbara) Rich and Kim Dewayne Rich; grand children, Meredith (Brandon) Greer and Alexander Bain Rich (Alex); great grandchildren, Cooper, Avery, and Ella Greer; and her extended family, the Lankford cousins.

Pallbearers will be Alex Rich, Brandon Greer, Cooper Greer, Landon Pruitt, Logan Pruitt, Joe Cobb, Greg Lancaster, and Bobby Pike. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Anderson, Kathryn Harcrow, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brown, and Mr. and Mrs. Scott Parrish and Zach Phillips, Amedysis Hospice Care, Hannah Turner, Randi Green and Joel Williams (Chaplain); Dr. Steve Sanders, Dr. Dominic Homan, Dr. Dhaval Raval.

In lieu of flowers, memorials many be made to Piedmont Church of God or Church of the Highlands (Gadsden campus).

There is a Proverb that says: "A man that has friends must show himself friendly." Our mom always cooked more than we needed, just in case a friend or family member came in. She had a big heart by showing love towards others and getting to know them. We must assume her way of getting to know you better, was to feed you well. She was an only child, however she had a friend that stuck closer that a brother His name is Jesus. She is now eating from His banquet that He has prepared for His people. Praise the name of Jesus! Our family asks, if you don't know Him, just ask Him to come into your heart today. One day we all can sit down together at the table Christ has prepared for whosoever will call upon the name of Jesus. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service.
