Graveside services for Mr. Clyde L. Hester, 95, of Saluda, NC, who died Friday, Dec. 5, at Autumn Care of Saluda, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crestwood Cemetery. He was a native of Gadsden, AL. In 1942, he joined the Army and served in WWII where he was awarded The Bronze Star Medal. He continued to serve his country after the war and retired from the Army in 1962. He and his family moved to Satellite Beach, FL, where he worked another 18 years in government service at Patrick Air Force Base in Brevard County, FL. In 1980, he and his wife moved to Henderson County, NC.
Mr. Hester was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Jo Mullins Hester; and son, Michael Clyde Hester.
Mr. Hester is survived by his daughter, Sherry Hester Jarvis and her husband, Jack, of Saluda, NC; his granddaughter, Jessica Jarvis Cleland and her husband, Chris, of Charlotte, NC; his grandson, Jake Jarvis and his daughter, Kaylee, of Hendersonville, NC.
Services will be held under the direction of Crestwood Funeral Home in Gadsden, AL. Shuler Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements
