Clay Aldean
Jenkins
October 30, 1930 – November 7, 2021
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Crestwood Chapel for Clay Aldean Jenkins, beloved brother uncle and proud veteran of the United States Army and Air Force who passed away peacefully on November 7, 2021 at the age of 91. Reverend Curtis Fuller will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Clay was born in Etowah County, to Edith and Dan Jenkins on October 30 th , 1930. He rose to the rank of Sargent, in The United States Army, and served honorably in The Korean War from, October 1950, to February 1953. Several days later after discharge, he enlisted in The United States Air Force. Shortly after returning home , on March 14 th 1953, he married the love of his life, Janice Beaird. Clay and Janice were married for 53 blissful years prior to her passing in 2006. A devoted fan to Alabama Football and The Atlanta Braves, Clay was also the proud owner of a fleet of John Deere Tractors. Those who knew Uncle Clay could always count on him having a pack of Double Mint gum in his shirt pocket, homemade(and home grown) pecan pie in the oven , and tea cakes in the cookie jar ready for his cherished nieces and nephews. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he held a position in The Etowah County Engineering Department where he worked faithfully for over 30 years. Thanks to that position, his devoted membership to New Hope Baptist Church, and his loving generosity, Clay never knew a stranger. He is preceded in death by parents Edith and Dan Jenkins, Twin brother Ray(Judy) Jenkins, brother Tommy(Barbara) Jenkins, Billie Jo(Lavon) Hughes, Robert Jenkins, Mary Jenkins, and brother –in-law Thurston Cothran. He is survived by his sister Tressa(Curtis) Fuller, Shirley Cothran, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be David Payne, Steve, Jenkins, Eric Jenkins, Drew Jenkins, Felix Firestone, Kenneth Firestone, Shaun Firestone, Eric Firestone. Honorary pallbearers are Stan Jenkins, Eddie Jenkins, Terry Thornton and Wayne Burttram.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The War MEMORIAL Fund. The family would also like to give special thanks to Kathy Murphree for all the love and kindness that she has shown our family. The family will receive friends from 11 am, until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
