Christianne Emilienne Pouternier Ausborn, age 96, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2022, in Gadsden, Alabama.

Christianne was born on March 24, 1926, in Carvin, France. She grew up in France, surviving World War II, and moved with her young family to Alabama in 1958 following her marriage. She co-owned the Wooden Nickel clothing store in downtown Gadsden (1970s), painted figurines for Miss Martha Originals, and worked for several years at Noccalula Falls Park. She loved music, flowers, animals, and her Catholic faith. She was a talented seamstress and gardener. Her grandchildren cherish childhood photos amidst the backdrop of her abundant blue hydrangeas.

Christianne is preceded in death by her parents, Archille Victor-Charles Pouternier and Julie Prévost Pouternier, and her sisters Julienne Pouternier Kaczmarek (Edouard) and Marie-Sophie Pouternier Sanders (François) of France.

She is survived by her children Steve Ausborn (Londa), Stanley Ausborn, and Florence Watts (Brett); grandchildren Dr. Natalie Lockney (Dr. Tim Lockney), Trey Ausborn, and Christopher Watts; great-grandchildren Evelyn Lockney and Parker Lockney; and several nieces and nephews of France.

Funeral services will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home on Monday, April 18, 2022. Reverend Bart Watts of Edgewood Baptist Church will officiate. Visitation will be at 10 am at Crestwood Funeral Home, and graveside funeral service will be at 11 am.

Pallbearers will be Trey Ausborn, David Clokey, Robert Guyton, Alan Hall, and Christopher Watts. Honorary Pallbearer is Dr. Tim Lockney.

Flowers are welcome, or other contributions can be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any other local charities of choice. Her family extends special thanks to Magnolia Gardens Assisting Living, Dr. Lowe, and all the compassionate staff at Northside Healthcare and Rehab.
