Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, for Charles 'Pop' Talcott Stith Sr., 78, Gadsden, who passed away April 7, 2012. The Rev. Charles Smith and Jerald Adams will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Charles was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was loved by all who knew him. He was a member of Paden Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and children's Sunday School teacher for 45 years. Pop wanted everyone he met to know Jesus Christ his Savior. For decades, Pop never missed an Easter Sunrise Service. The family rejoices knowing that he spent this Easter Sunrise in the presence of his Lord. Pop was known for his hugs and entertainment with stories and jokes. His favorite pastimes included gardening and going to Snow Bird Mountain with siblings and friends. He served in the Navy, and retired from Goodyear after 30 years of employment. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Franklin Sr. and Alice Cameron Stith; stepmother, Vergie Stith; brother, John Stith; and sister, Marjorie Stith. He is survived by his wife, Jean White Stith of 57 years; children, Ginger (Johnny) Belyeu, Chuck (Cheryl) Stith, Jeff (Kristie) Stith and Mike (Cyndi) Stith; grandchildren, Emily (Stewart) Fox, Melinda Wyatt, Stephanie (Cary) Tucker, Brian Stith, Jeffrey Wagnon, Lauren (Kevin) Lipscomb, Benjamin Stith, Haley Stallings, Adam Stith, Hannah Stith, Bethany Stith, Abbie Stith, Julia Stith, Caleb Stith; great-grandchildren, Breanna and Haleigh Wyatt, Rylie and Cohen Fox, Hayden, Mallory and Bryson Tucker, Damien Lipscomb and Kagan Wagnon; sisters, Jane Greer, Aileen (Jack) Lambert; brothers, David (Kathy) Stith, Pat (Donna) Stith; sister-in-law, Mary Stith; brother-in-law, Winfred (Sandra) White; and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to our church family and friends who supported us during our time of loss. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Crestwood Funeral Home.
