Charles D. Smith, Jr., age 92, of Gadsden passed away September 13, 2022. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Crestwood Funeral Home announcing.

Mr. Smith loved God and country. He was proud of his service with the U.S. Marine Corp and served in Quantico Virginia. He had served as a Volunteer Auxiliary State Trooper from 1968 until 1971. He was a Free Mason for 61 years. Mr. Smith became a pilot at the age of 45 and loved flying. He also enjoyed music and played both the guitar and saxophone. He loved his family; especially his four children, five chopsen children, 10 grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father Kitty Smith and Charles D. Smith, Sr.; sister Helen Wietchy, and great granddaughter Sarah Davis.

He is survived by his loving wife, Polly A. Smith; daughters Linta Hopper, Deborah Davis (Phil); sons Danny Smith (Patricia), Kenny N. Smith (Susan); chosen children Phu, Thi Nguyen, Cuong, Houng, Con, Nguyen; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
