Funeral services will be 12 pm, Friday May 9,2025, at Crestwood Chapel, for Mr. Charles E. Sims, 95, born on October 10, 1929, in Glencoe, Alabama, who passed
away on Friday, May 2.
Charles was preceded in death by the love of his life, Florence Sims, and his
only daughter, Janet Kennedy. Surviving family members include his sister in-law, Lola Beasley, who took extensive care of him during his final years;
his grandchildren, Shannon Hill and Charles Boykin Kennedy; his great grandsons, Matt and Nathan Hill, both of whom he loved very much; his
great-great-grandchildren, Nathan Jr. and Noelle; and son-in-law, Boykin
Kennedy.
He was extremely proud of his service in the United States Navy, serving
for four years during the Korean War. The military provided him the
opportunity to travel across the country and to the Asia-Pacific, creating
memories that he enjoyed retelling to anyone who was interested. After his
service in the Navy, he served three years in the Marine Reserves and
worked at Goodyear in Gadsden, Alabama, until his retirement.
An avid lover of Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves, he could be
found in front of the television, enjoying these teams during their respective
seasons. The family will recieve friends at the funeral home Friday from 11 am until the time of service.
