Funeral will be at 1 pm Tuesday at Crestwood Chapel for Charles Grover Lankford age 87 of Hokes Bluff who died Saturday, February 15, 2014 .Revs. Anthony Copeland and Harvey Beck will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery .Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Lankford was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church,a United States Navy Veteran and retiree of Engineering Sales Inc. He loved working in his woodshop, Auburn Football, watching the hummingbirds and meeting his buddy's for breakfast at Jacks. He was a member of the Lions Club as well as a volunteer for the Etowah County Rescue Squad. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all, especially his grandchildren whom he adored as much as they adored him.

He is preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years Mary Lou Lankford; parents Grover and Luvenia Lankford; sisters and brothers Patsy Cook, Irma Bryant, Preston Lankford and Edwin Lankford.

He is survived by daughters, Rhonda (Steve) Hegedus, Kim (Steve) McGowan, Lara (James) Wakefield; son Shane (Jackie) Lankford; grandchildren Stephanie and Charlie Hegedus, Blake , Brandon ,Brent (Kayla) McGowan, Carly, Shane and Jacob Lankford, Cady Wakefield and great grandchild Nolan; sister, Sybil Tibbets; brother-in-laws, Brent (Carolyn) Smith, and Gerald Smith; sister-in laws, Nan Lankford and Bess Shifflett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Special thanks for the wonderful care given to our father by the staff of Mountain Cove Assisted Living, caregiver Melanie Smith, and Amedisys Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 11 until 1 Tuesday at the funeral home.
