Funeral service will be at 3pm Friday January 14 at Crestwood Chapel for Cecil T. Arrington, Sr, age 79, who died Wednesday January 12, 2011. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.
Mr. Arrington was instrumental in starting the first PeeWee Football team in Glencoe and served as a coach for many years. He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He had retired from the Steel Plant with over 44 years of service. He was a longtime member of Glencoe Church of Christ. Tom was an avid golfer and a dedicated Bama Fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Zona Arrington, Brother Harvey Arrington, sisters Mildred Troup and Louise Holder, Stepson Matthew Clay Joiner, and daughter in law Sandra Arrington.
He is survived by his wife, Paulette Bass Arrington; daughters Ginger (Joe) Cash of Wilsonville, Andrea (Aaron) Gulledge of Glencoe, and Alison (Hal) Ashmore of Glencoe; sons Cecil Arrington, Jr. of Sylacauga, and Jeffery Dale "Hootie" (Myra)Arrington of Glencoe step daughter Marsha (Jim) Miller of West Palm Beach, FL,; step son Marty (Pam) Joiner of Leesburg, GA; grandchildren Michael Cash, Courtney Hale, Paige Vickery, Lindsay Ashmore, Lauren Ashmore , Haley Arrington, and Adam Arrington, all of Glencoe and Sandy Arrington, of Wilsonville; Great Grandson Bryce Garrison; Step Grandchildren Patrick Miller of Hawaii, and Anna and Austin Joiner of Leesburg, GA. Pallbearers will be Adam Arrington, Austin Joiner, Larry Jordan, Jim O'Neal, Mike East, Thomas Brown, Mark Thrift, and Harold O'Neal.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Elders and Deacons of Glencoe Church of Christ and the Brick Masons of Local 11.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, prior to the service from 1 until 3 pm.
