A visitation for Mrs. Carolyn Schroeder, age 79, of Gadsden, will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Crestwood Funeral Home, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Mrs. Schroeder passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Carolyn will be remembered for her love of fishing and gardening, especially flowers. More than anything, family was always first in her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all, and she will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Gross; her parents, Boyd and Fran Ellen Stafford; her grandparents, David and Olivia Stafford and Benjamin and Lillian Mapes; and her sister, Martha Black.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Matthew Schroeder; her daughters Dana Machen, Tess Downes, and Holly (Craig) Newton; her stepchildren Josh Prater and Brittney (Ben) Lockabey; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
