Carolyn "Herbie" (Hubbard) Peterson | Visit Guest Book Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Crestwood Chapel for Carolyn "Herbie" Hubbard Peterson, of Gadsden, who died Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Burial will be in Rainbow Memorial Park. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge. She was a retired office manager and was a graduate of Glencoe High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all. She loved NASCAR and cheered the loudest for Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. She also loved to travel and enjoyed the monthly lunches with her Glencoe High classmates. Herbie carried a big stick and wasn't afraid to use it. She was also a proud breast cancer survivor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben Levi and Beatrice Hubbard; sister, Bonnie Ruth Handy; brothers, Charles Hubbard and Kenneth Hubbard. She is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Bill "Pete" Peterson; sons, Danny Handy, Lanny (Debbie) Handy, Davy Handy and Steve (Ina) Peterson; grandchildren, Brant, Nathan (Misty), Bradley, Nicholas Handy, Sara Rose (Martin) Harper and Esther Handy; great-grandchildren, Dru, Daxter, Hunter, Zoey, Hayden and Aubrey Handy; sister, Frances Brugge; sister-in-law, Carol Hubbard; brother, Luther "Jerry" (Sue) Hubbard. Special thanks to Dr. Bates, the nurses and staff of Riverview Regional Medical Center, Alacare Healthcare and all caretakers who helped during her illness. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
