Carol Benson age 87 of Glencoe, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025 peacefully at her residence surrounded by family. She was born September 15, 1937 in Etowah County, daughter to the late Roy and Mamie Ruth St. John.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dwight S Benson Jr. and sister, Margaret Chambers.

She is survived by her two daughters: Dana Benson, and Kirstie (Jeff) Edwards, grandchildren: Jared and Katie Edwards. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and other special family and friends.

She was a lifetime resident of Glencoe, Alabama. She graduated from Glencoe High School, class of 1955 and was Salutatorian of her class. She was a member of Glencoe Cumberland Presbyterian Church for most of her life where she was saved and actively taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, sung in the choir along with many other church activities. Later in her Life she joined Gadsden Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she found love, church family, and a place of worship that nourished her unwavering faith in God.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Benson Plumbing and Heating and was part owner of Family Affair Arts and Crafts store. She enjoyed being a sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, and studying her Bible.

A memorial service will be held at Gadsden Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Visitation will be at 1:00 with service following at 2:00 at the church.
