Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery for Mr. Carl Stinson Roe, age 83, of Gadsden, who died on Tuesday, May 6, 2008. Rev. Bryan Blass and Rev. J.T. Harrell will officiate. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Mr. Roe retired from Alagasco after 43 years of service. He served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division in the United States Army during World War II and received a purple heart and a silver star. He coached Little League Baseball for 4 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gadsden and the Dick Grimes Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Conner Roe; son, Clyde Roe; sister, Louise Stallings; grandchildren, Christin Roe and Chad Roe; great granddaughter, Marlee Reavis; many nieces and nephews; step-children, Richard Errol, David Conner and Jane Conner Dearing; and numerous step-grandchildren.
In-Lieu-of-flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the First Baptist Church of Gadsden.
Honorary pallbearers will be retirees from Alagasco.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
