Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008 at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery for Carey Madelyn Gilliam Beaube, age 71, who celebrated resurrection through death into Life on Tuesday, June 10, 2008. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will be servicing the family.
Mrs. Beaube was born in Iredell County, North Carolina on November 23, 1936 to her loving parents, Lawerence F. Gilliam and Idelle Collins Gilliam. She was a charter member of the Sunday School Department at Jackson Park United Methodist Church where she received awards for thirteen years of perfect attendance. This is where she learned to love the Lord with all her heart along with the guidance of her parents. While a member there she taught Sunday School, Bible School, served on the Administrative Board, directed Christmas plays, served as chairman of the decorating committee for the churches' new parsonage, and other capacities such as assisting in establishing the first library in the church.
Carey graduated from A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, North Carolina, in 1955. Her favorite school activity was the high school band in which she was a majorette. She was also a graduate of the Gadsden Business College Secretarial School in Gadsden, Alabama. Before retirement, she was employed with Community Dialysis for seventeen years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Tana R. Barkley Beaube and two nieces, Julie and Amy Esthus.
She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-four years, Robert Earl Beaube, three children, Robert B. Beaube of Rainbow City, Lynne (Steve) Thompson of Southside, and Rev. Alex E. (Renee) Beaube of Elkmont, Alabama; she has eight grandchildren which she loved very much: Kristin, Matthew, and Emily Thompson of Southside, Bryan and Justin Beaube of Rainbow City, and Caleb, Andrew, and Olivia Beaube of Elkmont; she also leaves behind to cherish her memories, two great grandsons, a very special sister and niece, Gloria G. Esthus and Jan Schluter of New Orleans, Louisiana, a brother, Stan Gilliam of Greensboro, North Carolina, and a lifetime friend, Jane Anderson of Kannapolis, North Carolina.
In-lieu-of-flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, at 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York, 10016. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Friday, at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
