Calvin Virgil Rollins

Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Crestwood Chapel, for Mr. Calvin V. Rollins, age 96, of Gadsden, who passed away Tuesday October 11, 2022, at his home. Reverend Noah Medders will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery with Military honors following the service. Calvin was the second child of Nannie Lou Gross Rollins and Henry Asbury Rollins. Calvin was born in Randolph County Alabama, June 18,1926. Calvin attended Rocky Branch Baptist in Woodland Alabama. During a revival service at Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Calvin accepted The Lord Jesus as his savior, and was baptized in Wedowee Creek. Calvin attended Randolph County High School. He was drafted into The United States Army, at 19 years of age. Calvin served in Europe until his discharge. Upon returning to the states he married the love of his life, Nancy Evelyn Boone on Christmas Eve. The couple later moved to Gadsden Alabama, where Calvin attended, The Alabama School of Trades. He became a master automobile mechanic. Calvin worked at C & S Oldsmobile and Pierson Chevrolet. Calvin loved his family, his church, East Gadsden Baptist Church, where he was a member for 71 years, and loved his 1937 G John Deere Tractor. His desire was to get his tractor started before passing away. Calvin got his tractor running the summer of 2022 and his son videoed his dad with his tractor. Calvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy Evelyn, his daughter in-law Jane W. Rollins, and grandson -in -law Dustin Swinford. Other family members include; his parents Nannie Lou and Henry A. Rollins; parents-in-law Curtis and Connie Boone; his brother Owen Rollins; his sister Mary Denny; his brothers -in-law Gus Denny, Victor Bailey, Earl Smith and Edwin Johnson; sister-in-law Sara Ann Johnson. He is survived by his four children ;Ann(John) Bryant, Robert(Patty) Rollins, David Rollins and Connie(Johnny) Kellett; his two younger sisters Margaret Smith and Ruth Bailey of Randolph County Alabama, and brother-in -law, Curtis (Lavona) Boone of Pensacola Florida; grandchildren Andy(Jessicca)Rollins, Amanda(Barry) Buchanan, Julie (Paul) Rolin, Robyn Swinford, Katie(Morgan) Champagne, Leighton (Rachel) Kellett, Jonathan(Stacie) Kellett, Cameron(Mallory) Kellett, Taylor(Melissa) Morgan, Elizabeth(Matthew) Wells, Lisa(Omar) Rodrigues, Jason(Esme) Deal. Calvin was called GGDad by his 25 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. In lieu of flowers ,memorials may be made to East Gadsden Baptist Church in our fathers memory. The grandsons will act as pallbearers and Charles Scott is The Honorary Pallbearer.

Special thanks is expressed to Amedisys Hospice nurses, Tyler Pence and Mary Mintz for their compassionate care during our fathers illness.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 pm until the time of service.
