Graveside services will be at 3pm Sunday at Crestwood Cemetery for Bunnie Rush Kelly age 93 of Huntsville formerly of Gadsden who passed away Friday, October 7, 2011. Father Gray Bean will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home, Gadsden is in charge.
Mrs. Kelly was born in the community of Hazen in Morengo County Alabama in March of 1918. She moved to Birmingham, AL with her mother and siblings in 1930. After attending Woodlawn High School she married Peter R. Kelly and they had three sons. Her youngest son David was born with Cerebral Palsy and required constant attention, she cared for him for fifty years. After living in Gadsden for forty-five years, she moved to Huntsville, where she resided for the past twenty-three years. Her near photographic memory functioned at full capacity until her death. This memory assisted her in answering most questions on her favorite TV game shows. She was versed and opinionated on every national news story and many sport teams. She spent much of her time as a volunteer in more ways than one, including being president of the PTA, help with CP Telethons, Garden Club Officer, and assisting her "senior" friends by carrying them to church, Dr. appointments, and shopping trips. Her one surviving son, daughter-in-law, and several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren added to her wonderful love of life. In summary hers was an amazing life as she continually gave to others.
She was preceded in death by her husband Peter R. Kelly, Sr., sons, Peter R. Kelly, Jr. and David L. Kelly; and grandson, Brian M. Kelly.
She is survived by her son, Gene P. Kelly of Huntsville; beloved daughter-in-law, Ann A. Kelly of Huntsville; very special granddaughter, Regina (David A.) Woods; grandsons, Paul Kelly, Preston (special granddaughter-in-law Pam) Kelly, David (Rita) Kelly and Chris (Angel) Kelly; granddaughters, Kathy (Sadmir) Kader and Karen (Keith) Norris; a host of great-grandchildren; and nephew, Ronald (Billie) Rice.
Special thanks to Huntsville Hospital Comfort Care.
