On October 13, 2022, Brenda Gail Lay was healed and made whole again as she passed away at the age
of 80. She was in her home with family by her side.
Brenda was born to the late William Benjamin and Ruby Jewel Davis on July 9 th , 1942 in Gadsden, AL.
She graduated from Emma Sansom High School in 1960 and then completed the X-Ray program at the
Holy Name of Jesus Hospital. As new technology was developed, so did Brenda's career. She advanced
from X-Ray to Cat Scan and retired as an MRI technician from the Gadsden Cancer Center.
Outside of work, Brenda loved to read, complete crossword puzzles, take care of her flowers, and cheer
on her Auburn Tigers. She took the most pride in supporting her children and grandchildren every
chance she could. No matter their successes, failures, highlights, or low points, she always showered
them with unwavering and unconditional love. Her sweet spirit was infectious to other family members
and friends.
Brenda is survived by her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and they invite you to join them
for a celebration of life on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Visitation is from 10-11 A.M with graveside
service immediately following with Jody Baker officiating. Crestwood Memorial Cemetery and Funeral
Home will provide services.
While those left behind are sad and say, "She is gone!"; Brenda joins her parents, her husband (Fred
Lay), and her siblings (Jean Black, Patricia Johnson, and Roger Davis), and they rejoice in saying, "Here
she comes!"
