Brenda Joyce Wise Jones, 66, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. A celebration of her life will take place today at 3 p.m. at Crestwood Chapel. The family will receive friends and family from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. The Rev. Joey Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.
Brenda worked as a paramedic for Ambulance Services Inc. until 1997, when Rural/Metro Ambulance bought the company. She continued to work as a paramedic on the ambulance for many years. After her service at RMA, Brenda went to work as a medical technician through Doctor's Care and was assigned to work on the medical unit at the Etowah County Detention Center. Within the last few years, Brenda "retired" and became a full-time Nana to all of her grandchildren, whom she considered to be the true lights in her life.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, John Wayne Jones; parents J.C. and Bea Wise; parents-in-law, J.W. and Sarah Elizabeth Jones; and grandson, Carson Luke Jones.
She is survived by her son, Chris (Courtney) Jones; daughter, Kim (Josh) Tanner; grandsons, Ethan and John Wyatt Jones, Chase Tanner; and granddaughter, Allie Tanner. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Chase Tanner, Ray Wise Jr., Todd Clough, Brent Lawley, Tom Coley, Jim Griffin, Jason Patty and DeWayne Klebine.
Honorary pallbearers are all past and present co-workers at Rural/Metro Ambulance and the medical unit at the ECDC.
