Bobby Simmons passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022 at his home in Rainbow City, AL. He was born March 16, 1939 in Muncie, Indiana. Bobby was a graduate of Eaton High School and Indiana Business College. He married Sharon LaVelle Simmons on September 1, 1967. He had worked in banking and finance for several years, but his hobby and love was retail. He loved helping people. He started several shops in Los Angeles, California and Atlanta, Georgia. He also was with the Los Angeles Police department for a short period of time. He retired to Rainbow City, AL. where he was a member of Rainbow City Presbyterian Church. Bobby loved to travel and would council young adults toward starting their own businesses as well as offering advice on managing finances toward retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon; son Scott (wife Dana) of Powder Springs, GA; grandchildren Stephanie Lindell (husband Jarron) and Sean Simmons, both of Powder Springs, GA; great granddaughter Blakely Lindell of Powder Springs, GA; brothers Bill Simmons (wife Peggy) of Muncie, IN and Junior Simmons (wife Janny) of Eaton, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Essie Williams Simmons and Vester Simmons; three sisters: Flora Morris (husband Phil) and Evelyn Clements (husband Keith) both of Muncie, IN and Marietta Hubbard (husband Vernon) of Farmland, IN; brother Jessie Simmons (wife Rosie) from Gaston, IN; and a great granddaughter Kaylee Lindell, of Powder Springs, GA.

The family would like to express their special thanks to the nurses, helpers, Chaplain, and associates of Encompass Home Health and Hospice who gave their all to care for Mr. Simmons and the family.

A celebration of life will be held at Rainbow Presbyterian Church in Gadsden, AL at 11 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2022. All are welcome to join his celebration of life.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Gardens of Memory in Muncie, IN, Friday, July1 at 11 AM.
