Bobby Whit Coleman, 86, began his eternal life in heaven on Thursday, October 26 surrounded by his family.
His funeral will be Sunday at 3 P.M. with Bro. Eddie Gooch officiating. Visitation will be 1 P.M. until time of funeral. Burial with military honors will be in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery.
Bobby was a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy, great-granddaddy Bob and a good friend to so many. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Jayne Coleman; parents, L. D. & Verna Coleman; son Richey Coleman; great-grandchildren, Dax Fortenberry, Anderson and Izabella Edge; sister, Winiss Murdock and brother, Wornie Coleman.
After graduating from Fyffe High School, he served his country in the United States Army. While in the army he fought in the Korean War where he was awarded a Purple Heart Medal along with 3 Bronze Service Stars, UN Service Medal, Infantry Badge, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan).
Bobby was a member of Hokes Bluff United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Council.
After retiring from the Anniston Army Depot, he enjoyed driving Charter buses. His favorite buses to drive were full of athletic teams, bands and church youth groups to destinations all over the country.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Ken) Wilson and Cindy (Jim) Anderson. Grandchildren, Whitney (Paul) Wilson, Jamie (Vann) Edge, Ashley (Jason) Fortenberry, Carlie Anderson and Justin Coleman (Devan Fraizer). Great-grandchildren Jake & Stella Wilson, Elizabeth & Jack Edge, Dru & Macy Fortenberry and Ross Goza. Many special nieces, nephews & friends. Special neighbors J.W. Smith and family.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers Howard Gilbert, J.W. Smith and Scott Godfrey.
The family is grateful to the physicians and 8th floor staff at Grandview Medical Center and also to Scott Godfrey, Ginger Barron and staff at Cornerstone Pharmacy. Special thanks to his caregivers Julia, Mary, Tiny, Donna and Amedisys Home Health.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to "Fill My Cup Ministry" at Hokes Bluff Methodist Church.
