Bill Eugene Garrett, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Leesburg, Alabama, on Monday, April 21, 2025, entering his eternal heavenly home to be reunited with his beloved late wife.
Bill was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Lois Ann Comeaux Garrett; his son, Kevin Garrett; his parents, J.D. Garrett and Bernice Freeman Garrett; and his siblings, Bobby Garrett, Gerald Garrett, Ricky Garrett, Doyle Garrett and Betty Roberson
He is survived by his children: Susan (Steve) Pounds, Steven (Cathy) Garrett, Michael (Julie) Garrett, Sharon (Randy) White, and Chris (Laura) Garrett. Bill's legacy lives on through his 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a large extended family who will miss him dearly.
Bill loved Jesus and cherished his family deeply. His hobbies included reading the Bible and tending to the beautiful flowers and plants in his yard. During the Christmas season, he found joy in creating light displays for children and families to enjoy.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Bill began his military service in 1954 with assignments at Fort Riley Kansas, Fort Jackson South Carolina, and in Germany. After his time in the military, he became a dedicated entrepreneur. In 1966, he founded Garrett Tire Company, a business that thrives successfully to this day.
Bill was immensely loved and will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and loyal customers.
Funeral services will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 1 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until the time of service. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Smith, Eric Smith, Chad Farris, Brad Farris, Randy White, and Roberto Rodriguez.
Bill will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his unwavering love for his family, and the steadfast values that shaped his life.
