Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015, for Billy Randolph Baswell, 84, of Gadsden, at Crestwood Chapel. Daddy made his last long run to his heavenly home on May 30th, 2015. Rev. Gary Ashley will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Mr. Baswell was born in St. Clair County, and graduated from Emma Sansom High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Billy was a member of the Dwight Masonic Lodge 550. He drove for Malone Freight Lines for many years, and then retired from B.F. Goodrich. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. His hobbies included gardening, bird-watching, and he especially loved boating with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Myrtice Jones Baswell and Clarence Aubrey Baswell; wife, Loretta Baswell (Angel); brother, Buddy Baswell; special nephew, Ronnie King; great nephew, Douglas Logan; and Naomi and Garland Vaughn
Billy is survived by his daughters, Deborah (Johnny) Thomas of Gadsden, Anita Baswell of Birmingham; grandsons, Justin Barrett of Vestavia and Taylor (Jessica) Barrett; great-grandchildren, Avery Kate Barrett and Braxton Moore; sister, Frances Baswell King Waldrop; nieces, Sherry King (Mike) Logan, Judy King Brackett, and Kathy King (Jimmy) Elrod; and his loving dog, Mickey.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Barrett, Justin Barrett, Johnny Thomas, Parker Bowen, Jimmy Elrod, and Mike Logan.
Honorary pallbearers are longtime friend Leonard Bullock, Alabama City Jack's Breakfast Club, and Dwight Masonic Lodge.
