Betty Jo Whaley, age 95, passed away Wednesday, June 15th, 2022. She was born and raised in Collinsville, Alabama and later moved to Glencoe, Alabama where she lived for over 60 years. The last three years of her life she lived near Gainesville, Florida.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Ira J Whaley; daughter, Vickie Lynn Whaley, infant son, Ira Keith Whaley; parents, Major and Mattie Sarratt, brothers Dan, Burt, Jerry and Douglas Sarratt; and sisters Doris Nell Hunsucker, Jean Proctor, and Pauline Hunsucker.
She is survived by her daughter Karen (Ed) Saxon; sisters Lydia Stephens of Gadsden, Alabama; Sarah Lee and Mary Jane Sarratt of Collinsville, Alabama; grandchildren Corie (Bob) Stawicki of Cumming, Georgia, and Jonathan (Shanna) Saxon of Panama City, Florida; and seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Joseph and Carolann Stawicki, John David, Mac, Rain and Ezra Saxon; numerous nieces, nephews, and life long friends.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandma and most importantly a lover of Jesus! She was a faithful member of the Baptist Church and will be greatly missed. Special thanks to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, CMAs, and staff at Ayers Health and Rehab Center. They provided her with wonderful care and showered her with love daily. We are also thankful to Community Hospice for their loving care.
Service will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home on Friday, June 24th at noon with family and friends. Visitation will precede service at 11:00 am. Pastors Thom Harrison and Ed Saxon will officiate. Burial will follow at Plunkett Cementery Collinesville.
