It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Jean (Brown) Rooks on Wednesday September 23, 2026 surrounded by her family. Betty was born September 9, 1931 in Gadsden, AL to Ernest Brown and Ada (Pinkston) Brown.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Fulmer and her husband Jerry. Her Grandsons, Doug Horton (wife Laura) and Mark Fulmer (wife Alana). Four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Horton, Luke Horton, Ethan Horton and Trinity Fulmer. Niece Brenda Humphries.

Betty loved cooking and gardening. She used to keep a garden with fresh vegetables and fruits at her house in Gadsden. Cooking was her passion. She was always planning the next meal and wanted to make sure the food was delicious and plentiful. She was also a fantastic baker, specifically when it came to pies and cakes. She was often asked to make cakes for special occasions by those that knew her. As long as there was something good to eat, she was happy.

Although she may be gone from her earthly home, she still remains in our hearts forever.

Visitation Saturday September 25, from 10 am to 11 am. Graveside services will be 11 am Saturday September 26, 2026 at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery located at 2209 East Broad St. Gadsden, Alabama.
