Betty Joyce Ray received her glorified body on February 7, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Hildia Bynum, and her brother, Larry Bynum. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Fletcher Ray, who was a wonderful caregiver in her last years; daughter Amy (Joey) Maise; grandsons Andrew (Robin) Maise and Julian (Harlie) Maise; great-grandchildren Cliff and Kate Butler; sister Carolyn Jester; and brother Jerry (Gala) Bynum.
Betty loved sewing dolls, clothes for dolls, Barbies, dogs, aprons, and other handmade items. For many years, she sold these items out of her home and at various craft shows. Her pride and joy were her grandsons.
The family would like to thank the members of Mount Carmel Baptist Church for all their prayers and kindness. They would also like to thank the kind staff and nurses of the 7th floor at Gadsden Regional, especially Dr. McCreless and our angel nurse, Angela. Additionally, thanks go to the staff of Gadsden Health and Rehab for their kindness and care to her and the family, especially Moe, and Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful staff and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 1402 Kyle Avenue, Gadsden, AL 35901.
A service will be held on Monday, February 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors 30 minutes prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Brother Roger Beshears. Internment will follow on Tuesday at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
