Graveside services for Mrs. Betty Jean Allen age 80, of Gadsden ,who died Sunday will be 3 pm Tuesday at Crestwood Cemetery. Reverend J.B. Wells will officiate. Crestwood Funeral home is in charge of services.
Mrs. Betty Jean Allen a long time resident of Gadsden Al, was born in Guntersville. Betty was a graduate of Glencoe High School. She married the love of her life and husband of 60 years Mr. Edward Allen on January 21, 1956. Betty was a faithful longtime member of Louis Street Baptist Church, where she especially loved serving in the nursery and assisting with catering special events. Mrs. Allen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed by many.
She is preceded in death by father Buster Walden, mother Lessie Walden, son Steven Allen, great grandson Braelyn Gazaway and son in law Douglas Miles.
Betty is survived by her husband Edward Allen, son Eddie(Valerie) Allen of Glencoe, daughter Carla Miles of Hokes Bluff, six grandchildren, Brandon Allen, Stephanie Allen, Rachael(Jeremy) Jarrells, Joseph Allen, Brittney(Stephen) Chandler and Hannah Miles. Nine great grandchildren Trenton Dooley, Ella Dooley, Bryce Whitaker, Braylee Gazaway, Brody Chandler, Brogan Chandler, Austin Jarrells, Hannah Jarrells and Ava Jarrells.
In lieu of flowers funds may be made to your memorial or charity of your choice.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Allen, Stephen Chandler, Jeremy Jarrells and Trent Dooley.
Honorary pallbearers Bryce Whitaker ,Brody and Brogan Chandler.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Sandra Carpenter, Dr. Deborah Reiland, Dr. Kenny Smith, Coosa Valley Health Care and Gentiva Hospice.
There will be no visitation as per her wishes. Graveside services only.
