IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Lou
Long
June 20, 1931 – April 6, 2023
OBITUARY FOR Mrs. Betty Lou Long (Honeycutt)
On Thursday, April 6, Betty Lou Long of Rainbow City, passed from this life into the
arms of Jesus while surrounded by her family. Betty was born on June 20, 1931, to Dyer
Houston and Jewell (Osborn) Honeycutt in Attalla, AL. She had a true servant's heart, a
passion for gardening and absolutely loved flowers. Betty loved her Lord and family
immensely and was the perfect example of a Proverbs 31 woman.
"She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She
looks well to the ways of her household and eats not the bread of idleness. Her children
arise up, and he praises her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excel them
all. Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the LORD, she shall
be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the
gates."
As of December 31, 2022, Betty was married to her high school sweetheart,
Selton D. Long for 73 years. She was member of the Rainbow Church of Christ. She
was a loving mother to daughter, Belinda Seahorn (Danny) and Jerolyn Long. Her
precious grandchildren include Ben Brooks (Lydia), Daniel Brooks, Todd Nelson (Laina)
and Hannah Guthery. She has 5 great grandchildren, Hunter, Jackson, Lillie Lou, Allie
Kate, and Bastion.
She is also survived by her sisters, Carolyn Hitt (Hanceville, AL) and Martha Ann
Spurlock (Pensacola, FL). All nieces and nephews which are numerous, affectionally
knew her by "Boo". Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Elmus,
George Arthur, Leon and Charles Edward Honeycutt.
Services for Mrs. Betty Long will be Saturday, April 8, 2023, with family visitation
beginning at 12 noon, friends and family at 1:00 pm and the service at 2:00 pm in the
