Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, May 20th, at Crestwood Chapel for Betty Sue Bishop Keeling, 83, who passed away on Monday, May 18th, 2015. Pastor Shane Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Our sweet Mom is seeing her Savior now face to face and our only sorrow is that we can't witness her awe at this moment. It was very difficult for her to fathom His great love for her.
Mom was a woman of words - many words and usually said what was on her mind at the moment. She loved crossword puzzles and was even accused of creating some words for a challenging Scrabble game. We will treasure the stories she shared with us from her earlier years.
She was married to her high school sweetheart for 62 years before he passed in 2011. The head cook at "Wimp's Dairy Bar" she was a very hardworking helpmate for Pop.
Her passion was gardening and she had a genuine gift for growing the most beautiful hydrangeas, irises and roses. She always said that pulling weeds out of her flower beds was very soothing to her.
She spent her last few years with her youngest son, Vic, in Union Grove, AL and attended church with Vic's family at Somerville Baptist Church. She loved her church, especially her Sunday school class.
Our Mom was a tough cookie. She survived two different types of cancer in her body and other health issues with COPD. We will miss her tremendously but we are so thankful that she is free from her earthly body now.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Winford "Wimp" Eugene Keeling; parents, Zacheus and Maudie Victoria Bishop; brothers, Bill, Bob, Grover Bishop, and Walter Thompson; and sisters, Gladys Bishop, Mildred Trikoris, and Warrenge Perry.
She leaves behind her children, Kerry (Alex) Keeling, Steve (Susan) Keeling, Kim (Denny) Norton, and Vic (Vona) Keeling; grandchildren, Heather Koern, Phillip Keeling, Chris Keeling, Sally (Eric) Warren, Kerri Norton, Ty Norton, Stephen (Jenn) Keeling, and Nicole Keeling; one great-grandchild, Jillian Koern. She will miss the birth of two of her great-grandchildren due in July and August. She also leaves behind her sisters, Mary Bailey and Pat (Harold) McDonald.
We would like to thank the Cullman Regional Hospital Critical Care Unit staff, particularly Donna, Summer, and Dr. John Morris for their compassionate care of our mom. They truly went above and beyond to be of help and comfort to our sweet Mom and our family as well.
The family will accept friends from 11 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday.
