Funeral service were at 2pm Staturday, July 16, 2011 at Crestwood Chapel for Betty Townsend Jones, Age 66, of Glencoe, who died Thursday July 14, 2011. Harold Epperson will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.
Betty was a native of Gadsden. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and working with her plants and flowers. She was a devoted Christian who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She fought a long battle with cancer and other illnesses.
She is preceded in death by her son, Bobby Jones; father Robert Townsend; brother Bobby Lee Townsend; and nephew Tim Townsend.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Johnny Jones, daughter Brenda (Tommy) Gibbs, and son Barry Jones all of Glencoe; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; mother Doris Dunson; Sisters Peggy Clark and Phyllis Scott; brothers Bill Townsend, and Mike (Debbie) Townsend; brother in law Jackie (Sharon) Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Alacare Home Health and Hospice staff, especially nurses Lacey, Jeannie Morrow, and Teresa Smith.
Pallbearers were Jim Horne, Tommy Roebuck, Harold Cranford, Tommy Gibbs, Adam Gray, and Jonathan Jones.
The family received friends at the funeral home from noon until the hour of service.
