Obituary

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on April 29 at Crestwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Crestwood.

Betty was born in Union, Mississippi to Dennis and Sudie Nicholson on January 8, 1928. She graduated from Woodlawn High School and attended Howard College, both in Birmingham. She married Sidney Harrington Connor, Jr. on August 18, 1950. She worked as a substitute teacher for the Gadsden City Schools and as a teller for two local banks. She served as Sunday School Director at Trinity Methodist Church in Huntsville, Alabama and was a devoted homemaker, mother and wife. She and her family attended First United Methodist Church of Gadsden then later she moved her membership to First United Methodist Church of Anniston after relocating.

Betty is preceded in death by her father, Dennis Dewitt Nicholson, Sr.; mother, Sudie McDonald Nicholson; brother, Dennis Dewitt Nicholson Jr.; husband, Sidney Harrington Connor, Jr.; son, Sidney Harrington Connor, III.

Ms. Connor is survived by her beloved and devoted dog, Poppy; daughter, Cindy Elsberry and son-in-law, Randy Elsberry; daughter, Pam Miles and son-in-law, Matt Miles; daughter-in-law, Regina Connor; grandchildren, Mandy Osborne, Nathan Elsberry, Mim, Madelin, Alexis, and Sela Miles, Ryan, Phillip, and Anna Connor, Barrett and Jordan Fleming; great grandchildren, Jackson and Kate Osborne.

Memorials may be given to the University of Alabama Division of Memory Disorders and Behavioral Neurology, 1720 7th Avenue South, SC 620B, Birmingham, Alabama 35294-0017.
